Castlegar Garden Club and Castlegar Communities in Bloom are partnering to sponsor this event at Twin Rivers Park on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Showcasing the abundance of local gardening talent and nature resources is a prime focus. Growing plants and gardens (wild and cultivated), farming, food production, growing organically, along with the natural environment will be featured.

As Heather McSwan, festival originator, says, “We hope this mix of energies will be beneficial to all, especially our environment.”

All activities are free to the public. Vendors will be selling plants and garden-related materials. Non-profit/educational nature and garden organizations are welcomed gratis. Speakers will give the public a more in-depth perspective on bats, mason bees and other garden topics.

The festival organizers are anticipating an artistic element and encouraging local artists whose work reflects nature and gardening to join in.

For information on how you can participate, contact: Heather McSwan at castlegargardenfest@shaw.ca or phone: 250-399-4439. Vendor registration deadline is March 31.

In the words of Mohandas Gandhi, “To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves.”
