Lower Columbia River Fish Habitat Recontouring Project

BC Hydro
By BC Hydro
March 9th, 2021

As part of the Columbia River Water use plan, BC Hydro has been working to support indigenous fish populations in the lower Columbia River. This month, we will be recontouring the stranding pools at the Genelle Main Bar, which will result in reduced fish stranding at this site. Work will commence on Monday March 15 and will be completed by Monday March 22, pending suitable water levels.

An Environmental Management Plan has been developed for this work, and an Environmental Monitor will be on site during the work and will monitor water quality and erosion sediment control for the project.

Safety is BC Hydro’s top priority and we are working with our contractors to continually plan work in ways that will protect the health and safety of both our workers and the public. We are committed to continue to meet and exceed all BC public health and occupational health and safety requirements and recommendations for employers and workplaces to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Measures are in place to make sure workers can maintain physical distancing guidelines and stay two metres away from other workers and the public throughout the project.
