Program Updates over the Holiday Season

Adult Co-Ed Rec Hockey on Tuesday evenings is cancelled due to the New Year’s Eve celebrations around town.   

Enjoy bringing in the New Year and all the best from the Recreation Department! 

Rossland Arena

The Arena is open for regular ice time throughout the Holiday season, except for the following dates and times; 

Tuesday December 31 at 4:00pm and Wednesday January 1, 2014.    If you would like to rent ice and the Recreation Department is closed, please contact the Arena directly, at 250-362-7396 ext. 1229 or 250-521-0110.  The Arena Staff will be able to assist you with available times and rental rates.   If you’re interested in renting ice this Saturday evening for a family party or multi-generational hockey game, please contact the Recreation Department on Thursday, at       250-362-2327 or the Arena Staff at 250-521-0110 in the afternoons.  Either Department would be happy to assist you with some ice time. 

Public Skating Schedule for the week of December 30-January 5, 2014

Our Holiday Public Skating schedule for this week is as follows;

Thursday, January 2:  5:15-6:45pm

Sunday, January 5:  2:30-4:00pm and 6:00-7:30pm

Rossland Recreation

The Winter 2014 Brochure is available online, at www.rossland.ca, City Hall home page and the Recreation Program Guide page.  You can also pick up a hard copy, at City Hall, the Credit Union, RSS, the Public Library and at the Arena.  Registrations for all programs start January 2nd. 

The Recreation Department hours over the New Year’s Holidays will be as follows; January 1, CLOSED and Friday January 3, CLOSED.  All other days, the office is open 9:00-4:00pm. 

 

The Rossland Youth Action Network

The Rossland Youth Action Network’s aim is to “increase activities for youth in the community and support opportunities and services for youth aged 12 -18 years old.” This goal has been made possible by the Columbia Basin Trust, who support the Network with their Community Directed Youth Funds.

 

Youth Action Network – Painting with Stephanie Gauvin
The second in our local artist series, youth artists can come and learn painting techniques from popular local artist

Stephanie Gauvin.   Space is limited so register now at Rossland Recreation 250-362-2327.  Times: 3:30-5:30pm

Wednesdays at the Rossland Art Gallery, 4 sessions – February 5, 12, 19 & 26.  $25 for all 4 sessions. Includes art supplies.

Rossland Youth Action Network Logo Contest

Design our logo! The winning logo will be included on all our posters, event pages, etc.  This could be your 15

minutes of fame!!    Winning logo designer will win a $100 gift certificate to a Rossland Business of your choice. 

There will be runner up prizes as well.

Rossland Public Library

Check out the Library’s website for a complete listing of the programs they’re running.  From Storytime for toddlers

to Teen Movie night, the Library has some excellent opportunities to connect with others and to further a love of literacy.   

Rossland Seniors

The Rossland Seniors Hall has lots of great activities running through the week!  On Mondays at 1:30pm the Rossland Seniors Art Club meets.  Contact Edith Harasin at 250-362-5477 for more information.   On Monday evenings, the Rossland Quilters Guild gets together at 7:00pm.  Contact Deyanne Davies at 250-362-7727 for more information.   On Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm the Rossland Golden City Old Time Fiddlers practice and play.  The public are welcome to sit in and listen to the old time fiddlers play their music.  Visitors should contact Richie Mann before going to the Hall.  Contact Richie or Audrey at 250-362-9465.  On Thursdays between 9:30-11:00am join the Seniors for stretching exercises and morning tea and snacks.
