Kootenay Ice open Major Midget season Saturday in Nelson

Major Midget hockey is back.
The Kootenay Ice take to the NDCC Arena Saturday and Sunday on opening weekend in the B.C. Hockey Major Midget Hockey League.
The Ice, coached by Mario DiBella, host the North Island Silvertips beginning Saturday at 2 p.m.
The two teams are back in action Sunday at 9:15 a.m. at the NDCC Arena.
The Ice consist of players from throughout the Kootenays, including five players — Austin Tambellini, Justin Post, Brandon Sookro, Sam Weber and Nolan Percival.
Other players include Kyle Hope and Jeremy Lucchini of Trail, Lucas Peters of Midway, Ryan Neil of Fruitvale and Greyson Reitmeier of Nakusp.
The Ice finished last season with a 5-31-4 record for 10th in league standings.
North Island finished seventh last season at 18-18-4.
