Columbia Basin Trust recently contributed $50,000 to the LeRoi Community Foundation, CBT’s eleventh Community Foundation to receive support from its Endowment Support for Community Foundations Program.

The LeRoi Community Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Greater Trail through a large network of local donors and corporations.

“The LeRoi Community Foundation is an excellent example of a foundation that responds to identified community needs and assists with the growth of local organizations,” said Neil Muth, CBT President and CEO. “CBT is pleased to assist Basin Community Foundations in their efforts to support a wide range of local organizations and activities.”

The Endowment Support for Community Foundations Program helps Community Foundations increase their endowment levels, encourages development of new Community Foundations in areas that are not covered by an existing Community Foundation and increases the capacity of Basin communities to identify and meet their own needs through community leadership and a local granting process to registered charities.

CBT provides a minimum of $25,000 and maximum of $50,000 in matching funds to the community foundations for their endowment growth.

Other foundations that have benefited from the program:

  • Revelstoke Community Foundation
  • Osprey Foundation (Nelson)
  • Golden and District Community Foundation
  • Columbia Valley Community Foundation
  • Cranbrook and District Community Foundation
  • Community Fund of North Kootenay Lake
  • Nakusp And Area Community Foundation
  • Creston – Kootenay Foundation
  • Valemount Community Foundation (Fund of the Price George Community Foundation)
  • Kimberley and District Community Foundation
