Car-Sharing Anyone? Check out these two options
Two Options for Car-sharing
1 – A Car Co-op
Are you ‘between cars’ and wondering what to do? Tired of the hassle of owning and maintaining a car? Do you drive less than 16,000 kms a year? Car-sharing may be the answer for you.
Car-sharing involves shared, instead of private ownership. The vehicle is owned and insured by the cooperative. Members pay a refundable fee to get involved, then a monthly fee depending on use of the car, and a per kilometre fee. It can be as cheap as $1000 a year for occasional use, up to about $3300 for frequent use.
Rossland needs at least six interested parties who will drive on a semi-regular basis to make a car-sharing program feasible.
2 – One-on-One Sharing
Does your car sit in the driveway most days? Are you interested in reducing the cost of owning a car? Would you be open to sharing your car with someone, for a fee?
If we cannot find enough people interested in a co-op, there is the option of one-on-one car-sharing. If you have a car you are open to sharing, or are car-less and interested in finding someone to share with, please contact us.
If you are interested in either option, please contact Diana at Diana@wspring.ca or 250-362-5810.
