Back to basics

Back to basics

It seems we're always looking for the new great thing that's going to get us fit, shed the pounds, and motivate us. Many of us put in a half-hearted effort of working out, decide that those particular exercises don't work, but wait... what's that? Jennifer Aniston uses what? Well, then! That's my ticket too! And out we run to purchase some new piece of equipment, exercise video, or whatever.

(And then it sits in our closet for 5 years, collecting dust. How many of you use your treadmill as a place to hang laundry? That's what I thought.)

And while this mission is less risky than a voyage into the great unknown, drawing out the many great routes through our own backyard wildness is bound to be a lot of fun.

Both Nelson teams were shut out of the medals at the West Kootenay Minor Hockey Bantam House Championship during the weekend in Nelson.

Nelson 1 and Nelson 2 failed to make it into the medal round after round robin action.

Rossland/Trail 1 proved to be too much for the rest of the field as the squad dumped Beaver Valley 6-1 to capture the West Kootenay Minor Hockey Bantam House Championship Sunday at the NDCC Arena.

In five games Rossland/Trail 1 out scored the opposition 37-6.

I love Food Fridays! It means I get to experiment in the kitchen and reap the benefits! And yes, share with you as well. These two recipes made their way into my Health in a Hurry: Fast Fun Food workshop last night, and were a total hit!

Fall brings mushrooms to the menu

Ahhh Autumn. I suppose your arrival was inevitable. There was a time when this golden season was considered my favourite. Bugs start to disappear, school starts (yes, I’m a geek at heart), and the colours around the Kootenay area provide an unmatchable source for inspiration. But then I discovered gardening. And rockclimbing. And who wants to wear pants anyway?
