Washtub Bass Instructional Video

Rossland resident, Michael Gifford, has a new handle. Call him “Gut Bucket Giff”. He recently released his two-part YouTube instructional video, “Compleat Washtub Bass”. Part One (18 minutes) covers understanding and hearing the bass line. Part Two (36 minutes) deals with building and playing the single string instrument.
Gifford (GBG) has been playing the washtub bass since 1965. “It amazes people that a bucket with a string attached can sound so good!” He currently plays with Portland, Oregon’s jug band, “The Barbeque Orchestra”, providing the bass line on washtub bass, jug and tuba.
