Slide closes parts of Galena Trail near New Denver

The Regional District of Central Kootenay continues to deal with landslides in the region as local government officials have now close a section of the Galena Trail near New Denver. In a media release Monday, the RDCK said parts of the scenic trail has been closed due to a slide. “A section of the Galena Trail has been closed due to a slide, which occurred at 1.5 kilometres in from the highway yard entrance (300 metres east of Denver Canyon),” the release said. “The trail is closed from Denver Canyon to the Cable Car (see map).

Crescent Valley Beach Regional Park Commencing Construction of Final Phase

Monday (April 24th) marks the beginning of the final phase of the Crescent Valley Beach Regional Park the Regional District of Central Kootenay said in a media release. The construction will happen during the next two months, hopefully the project will be ready for the busy summer season. "The first phase which was completed in 2015 developed the entry into the park, 14 front parking stalls and a dropoff/pick-up area," the release said.
