Creston RCMP investigating homicide after remains of local woman found

RCMP in Creston have commenced a homicide investigation after remains of a missing local woman were found near Erickson last week.

RCMP said Tuesday in a media release forensic analysis of suspected human remains has confirmed them as being that of missing Creston resident Katherine McAdam.

Creston RCMP received a complaint on (Tuesday) Aug. 18 that the 58-year-old McAdam was missing from her Creston residence.

Creston RCMP initiated a missing person investigation in an effort to try and locate her.

On the afternoon of (Thursday) Aug. 27, members of the Creston RCMP were conducting an enquiry into her disappearance at a residence located in the 2700 block of Highway 3 in the community of Erickson, B.C.

During the enquiry the officers discovered what they believed to be human remains on that property.

The South-East District Major Crime Unit was contacted and has since taken over the investigation.

The identity of the victim has now been confirmed to be that of Katherine McAdam. 

Police are continuing their investigation and no further information is available at this time.
