Beasley Fire Department praised for quick response to early morning car fire
A Beasley man is crediting the quick response of the local volunteer fire department for preventing what could have been a catastrophic incident early Wednesday morning.
Jamie Gavin, of Beasley, woke to the sound of his dog barking at the back door of his house in the 4600 block of Beasley Road 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.
The family dog Boomer, was alarmed by a car fire at the foot of Beasley Road and Highway 3A/6, approximately 15 kilometers west of Nelson.
“Boomer woke us up about 1:40 last night barking at the back door to get in,” Gavin explained.
“He never does that and we couldn’t figure out why until we looked out the front window and saw a car fully engulfed in flames at the intersection at the end of our driveway.”
Beasley Fire Hall volunteers were already on scene dousing the flames of the car.
The quick response prevented the fire from spreading into the nearby brush along the side of Highway 3A/6.
“Kudos to the Beasley fire department for putting the fire out before it spread into the bushes,” Gavin said.
“No one in the car by the way,” he added.
The fire is currently under investigation by Nelson RCMP.
RCMP told The Nelson Daily police are still looking for the registered owner of the vehicle.
