Update: Sapriken arrested after tip from public

A man for whom police have been searching for months is now behind bars, according to RCMP Cpl. Kelly Hall (non-commissioned officer in charge of the Crime Reduction Unit).
“As a result of information provided by a local Castlegar business, Castlegar RCMP arrested Sapriken on March 6, 2015,” Hall said. “He was held in custody and sentenced in Castlegar Provincial Court on March 11.
“Sapriken received a sentence of 10 months custody followed by one year of probation and a number of fines,” she added. “The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating Sapriken.”

The Castlegar RCMP Detachment is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Russell David Sapriken (45 years old).
Sapriken has ten warrants for his arrest for driving while prohibited, breach of recognizance, theft under $5000, and failing to appear. The charges stem from a number of incidents which occurred between October 2013 and November 2014 in the Trail and Castlegar areas. Sapriken failed to attend court to answer to these matters and subsequently the warrants were issued. It is believed that Sapriken is still in the community but actively avoiding police detection.
Sapriken is described as having short grey/brown hair, blue eyes, 5’10”, approximately 160 pounds. He also has limited use of his right arm.
Sapriken has a criminal history and should not be approached if observed or encountered. Any information regarding SAPRIKEN’s whereabouts should be reported to the RCMP at 250-365-7721.
