The Summer Brochure is available online, at www.rossland.ca, Recreation, Program Guide.  The Rossland Pool is scheduled to open on Monday, June 9.  All programs and swimming lessons are now open for registration.

Rossland Swimming Pool

Opening day is scheduled for Monday, June 9.  School Board lessons, Stingrays and Public Swims all start that first week.

Evening Lap Swim

If you’re interested in swimming laps, the Rossland Pool has a new option!  On Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm, one lane in the pool will be reserved for lap swim.  The Stingrays will be using the other three lanes, but lappers are welcome to come out and enjoy a swim at the same time.  In July and August, lunch time lap swim increases to an hour and a half on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

Canada Day Toonie Swim!

The Pool will be open from 1:30-5:30pm on Canada Day!  Come celebrate!

Yoga in the Park

Yoga in the Park returns this year – with two Yoga Teachers!  Come roll out your mat, enjoy the sun and donate to a good cause.  Classes are open to all levels.  Please bring a yoga mat or beach towel, extra layers, water and sunscreen.  Starts June 26 until August 14, on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm at Rossglen Park.

Lifesaving Camp – Bronze Star

The Bronze Star award is the pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and it provides excellent preparation for success in obtaining the Bronze Medallion award.  Participants develop problem-solving and decision making skills as individuals and as partners.  This is a 12 hour course that requires the candidate to be comfortable in the water and at least 12 years old.  The course runs Wednesday July 2 to Friday July 4 from 10:30am to 3:00pm daily.

Church of Dirt Trail Building

Once again, the Monday Night Church of Dirt will be building sweet single-track in 2014. Come out and get dirty, meet great folks young and old, and add to our fantastic trail system.   Build nights start May 12th and will continue every Monday for the season.  We will meet at 5:30 pm each Monday in the Centennial Trail-head parking lot.  Our build nights will focus in the Monte Cristo / Columbia Kootenay area since it is easy for people to get to on a week night.  No experience needed – just a passion for the mountains and the pleasure of riding or hiking what you have worked on.  We will meet for a social after each build night at the Steam Shovel.   Reminders, updates, and location will be posted on the Bhubble before each build night.

Rossglen Bike Park Revitalization Project

Rossland’s Rossglen Bike Park is getting a facelift to reflect the changing desires of local mountain bike users.   Rossglen has been a fixture for the biking community for the past eight years but is in need of upgrades and expansion, and a group of volunteers are working with the City of Rossland to see that happen this summer.   In addition to new wood features, the jump lines will be rebuilt with beginner and intermediate tabletop lines.   The pump track, which is comprised of a loop of tight berms, rollers and features, will be built in phases as funding and volunteer hours are available.  In addition, the large wall ride at the park is getting refurbished and will be utilized for a youth graffiti art project funded by the Youth Action Network (YAN).   Volunteer build days will occur early in the summer and anyone interested is encouraged to attend and lend a hand in the revitalization project. For more information, contact Ryan Kuhn at (250) 231-9343.
