Rossland votes: declaration of candidates for upcoming civic election

Nominations are now closed, leaving Rossland with two mayoral contenders and 12 potential councillors, all of whom reside in Rossland. School Board Trustee Gordon Smith, of Rossland, has been elected by acclamation to School Board 20 for Area 5.
Incumbent Mayor Andy Morel is stepping down from that seat and running for council, while incumbent Councillor Lisa Kwiatkowsky is challeneged in her mayoral bid by Janice Nightingale
For council, incumbent candidates are Jeff Weaver, Craig Humpherys, Maya Provencal, all of whom will be competing for their seats with Dan Eheler, Mark Godin, Tara McDougall, Melanie Mercier, Darin Recchi, Sharon Roberts, Trista Sulman and Matthew Watkins.
There will be advanced voting opportunities Oct. 7 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Rossland City Hall Council Chambers. General Election Day is Oct. 17, again from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Rossland City Hall Council Chambers.
The swearing in of elected officials will be on Oct. 28.
