Trail Air Cadets start new training year

On Sept. 16, the Trail Air Cadet squadron is starting its 76th training year.
During the next 10 months, the cadets will learn about leadership, citizenship, aviation and physical fitness.
Planned activities include learning about map and compass, a winter hike, two weekends of outdoor activities, flying in glider and powered aircraft, effective speaking, marksmanship, biathlon and many other activities.
The squadron meets every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. in the Trail Armoury at 1990 7 Ave in Shavers Bench.
New cadets are welcome at anytime. Cadets are between the ages of 12 and 18 and new cadets can register by coming the Armoury on any Wednesday night, or by completing the online application at https://registration.cadets.gc.ca/get-started.html
Adults who would like to volunteer with the squadron are also welcome.

• The Cadet Program is a no cost program open to all Canadian youth from the ages of 12 to 18 regardless of income, race, religion, culture or other socio-economic factors. The program embraces Canada’s multiculturalism and offers young Canadian’s opportunities to interact with youth from other cultures.
• The Air Cadet program offers unique aviation opportunities, including gliding and powered flight training for qualified cadets. Many Canadian pilots started their aviation journey as Air Cadets.
• Air Cadets develop leadership skills, self-confidence, physical fitness, and community involvement while participating in fun aviation-related activities.
