The countdown is on…and the lineup for this year’s Teck Annual Rossland Mountain Film Festival is shaping up to be the most eclectic ever. Celebrating 16 years of local and international mountain film-making, the range of films will not disappoint movie fans young and old.

Catch a taste of local flavour with 3 films made by area residents. Ron Verzuh’s Joe Hill’s Secret Canadian Hideout explores whether or not the rumours are true in his historical approach to a local legend. Don’t miss it at Friday’s Teck Mountain Gala at the Prestige. Ryan Kuhn’s Bodhi Kuhn: Grasshopper will show on Saturday, November 23 at the Miner’s Hall. Vince Boothe’s Nate Lott: Trail Builder celebrates the man we can all thank for Pay Dirt and Ol’ Blue Eyes.

It’s back, and better than ever: The Rossland Arts Council’s REEL Youth Film Festival takes place on Saturday, November 22. This year’s Reel Youth screening is their most international program to date. From Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Iran, Sierra Leone, India, and of course across North America and Vancouver, young film-makers are truly pushing the edges of youth film-making. As they masterfully employ diverse film techniques and genres, their courageous stories and stance on issues they care about turn these screenings into celebrations of youth culture and youth voice. Admission for this event is $3.

Calling all artists: Proceeds from this year’s Art Auction will go to the Rossland Skatepark Association. If you’d like to donate a piece of art to this very good cause, please contact Mike Greene at canadianmike@gmail.com.
