Team NRG Bike Winner; Daffodil Dash Wrap-up
Gerick Cycle and Sport’s Jason Proulx and Erik Laithwaite joined Valerie Rossi, annual giving coordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) in Trail, and CCS volunteer Lynn Gould to congratulate D.J. Blid, 8, who was the lucky winner of a bike donated by the business partners. The Glenmerry Elementary School student was among many elementary kids who participated in a mini dash to coincide with Team NRG’s efforts for this year’s Daffodil Dash in Trail. Participating elementary schools — St. Michael’s and Glenmerry in Trail and Fruitvale, Warfield, and Rossland – helped raise about $12,000 to the nearly $22,000 raised specifically for pediatric cancer research. Team NRG, created by Gould in recognition of her granddaughter Natasha Rose Gould’s fight against a rare form of brain cancer, was one of the many success stories that emerged from the first Daffodil Dash in Trail, held April 24, which surpassed its goal with a total of over $39,000 raised.
