Rossland: Celebrate Earth Week with Free Community Events

The Rossland Sustainability Commission invites the community to take part in Earth Week celebrations from April 21–25, with a lively series of events focused on learning, connection, and local climate action.
Rooted in the belief that small, local actions can drive meaningful change, Earth Week in Rossland brings together residents of all ages to explore sustainability in practical and engaging ways. From guided outdoor experiences to hands-on workshops and social gatherings, the week showcases how individuals and our community can contribute to a more resilient future.
Earth Week Event Highlights (events are Free or by donation):
- Wetland Walkabout (Tuesday, April 21, 5–6pm, Jubilee & St Paul street): Guided tour of a neighbourhood wetland; learn about its critters and its creation story
- Forest Park Walkabout (Wednesday, April 22, 3–5pm, 1107 Black Bear Drive): Explore the ecosystem benefits of Rossland’s community forest and learn about how neighbours made it possible.
- Sustainability Social (Wednesday, April 22, 3–5pm, Lefevre Square): E-bike demos, upcycled art, and connect with your community.
- Marvellous Mushrooms (Wednesday, April 22, 10 AM –5pm, Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre, ): Family-friendly activities and the interactive travelling exhibit, BC’s Marvellous Mushrooms. Try an egg carton-mushroom craft or explore our “mapping mycelium” scavenger hunt.
- Fire Smart 101 (April 23, 7–8pm, City Hall): Learn how to protect your home and community from wildfire
- Family Movie Night (April 24, 5 PM and 7pm, Rossland Miners Hall): The kids classic Wall-E (the lonely robot discovers love and helps spark humanity’s return to a healthier planet) at 5 PM and 2040 ( documentary imagines a near-future world where existing climate solutions are widely adopted to create a sustainable and thriving planet) at 7 PM.
- Electrify Your Life Tour (April 25, 9am–12pm, 2393 Columbia Ave): A friendly tour of local homes showcasing energy retrofits, heat pumps and solar energy.
The Rossland Sustainability Commission, a volunteer-led group dedicated to advancing environmental stewardship, sees Earth Week as an opportunity to inspire awareness and action.
