The Trail Smoke Eaters are proud to announce that 2006-born forward Louis Jonerheim has committed to the RIT Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2027-28 season.
Jonerheim, of Lund, Sweden, stands 6’4″ (194 cm) and 207 lbs (94 kg), and shoots left. This season with the Smoke Eaters, Jonerheim has appeared in 18 games, recording 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points. Prior to joining Trail, he spent time with Malmö’s junior system, posting 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 46 games.
“Louis has proven himself to be an instrumental piece of our roster this season,” said Eric Thurston, General Manager & Head Coach of the Smoke Eaters. “It does not come as a surprise that he has garnered interest from many schools given his size, speed, and offensive ability. We are happy that Louis gets to further his education and hockey career at such a prestigious school as RIT. Many thanks to him and his family for making the choice to be a Smoke Eater.”
The entire Smoke Eaters organization would like to congratulate Louis and the Jonerheim family on his commitment to RIT. We thank them for their support of the program and wish Louis every success as he transitions toward NCAA Division I hockey. At the same time, the team is excited to see what’s in store throughout the rest of this season and next during his time as a Smoke Eater.
