Police seek witnesses to suspicious death near Kamloops

On Aug. 23, the Tk’emlups Rural RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road, north of Kamloops, British Columbia. Investigators located human remains inside the burned vehicle, which was believed to be a stolen, black, 2019 Volkswagen Golf.

The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit is now investigating the circumstances of the death.

“MCU investigators are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to the vehicle fire and death,” said S/Sgt Jason Smart of the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit. “If you have any information regarding the black, 2019 Volkswagen Golf, dashcam footage or video surveillance in the area of Tranquille-Criss Creek Road between 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2025, please contact the RCMP.”
