On Monday, Aug. 4, at 4:23 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a man who appeared to be in physical distress from an alleged drug overdose in the 1100 block of Green Avenue, in Trail, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“The officers attended the scene and located a 46-year-old Castlegar man laying on the ground,” he said. ‘The officers noted that man was breathing but unresponsive. One officer administered a dose of Naloxone to the man while the other officer contacted BC EHS. The Naloxone delivery was successful and officers remained with the man while he recovered.”

BC EHS attended; however, the 46-year-old man opted to leave the scene on foot in the company of a friend.

I would like to commend our officers for their quick response and action which resulted in this man recovering quickly from a scenario that can turn deadly. Drugs purchased from illicit sources can be lethal and any user is in danger at anytime, no matter their experience with the substance, .Wicentowich said.
