Sudden death at Rossland ski resort
On Friday, March 7, at 4:08 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of the sudden death of a 20-year-old Port Coquitlam man at a local ski resort, in Rossland, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
He said the man had been skiing with his family when he took a different path down a ski run than the group. When the man did not rejoin his family a short time later, they contacted the ski patrol.
“Patrollers searched the area where the man was last seen by his family. Patrollers located the man who was unresponsive after a piece of the man’s ski equipment had become entangled in a tree and restricted his ability to breathe,” Wicentowich said. “Patrollers attempted to revive the man at the scene before he was transported down the mountain to awaiting paramedics.
“Unfortunately, the 20-year-old Port Coquitlam man did not survive his injuries”.
The matter was turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service.
Our most sincere condolences to his family and friends after this very tragic and sudden event,
Wicentowich said.
