A Grand Forks man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with an incident on Granby Road April 16th, 2023.

At 2 a.m., on April 16th, frontline officers with the Grand Forks RCMP responded to a report of a man being shot inside a rural residence on Granby Road.

Upon arrival, police and BC Ambulance Service immediately began life-saving measures on a 33-year-old adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

A 43-year-old man was initially taken into custody at the scene, and later released.

Both parties were known to one another.

Almost year-long investigation, undertaken by the BC RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit, has led to charges of manslaughter against a now 44-year-old Sean Tiessen, of Grand Forks.

On March 28th, 2024, Tiessen was arrested and later released on conditions pending an upcoming court appearance.

As the matter is now before the courts, no further details may be shared.

“The RCMP thanks the community for their patience, while investigators thoroughly completed all aspects to bring this matter before the courts,” says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP Spokesperson.
