Ed. Note: This is very literally all the information this publication has to offer at this time. First responders are not sharing more for exceptionally good reasons, most of which involve protecting bereaved and traumatised families. The rumour mill is, of course, going crazy, both in real life and on social media, and my best advice is to ignore all of it. If not for your own mental health, then at the very least for the sake of the people who just lost someone. ~ Kyra Hoggan, Editor.

The RCMP release, verbatim:

On December 15, 2023, at 7:00 am Castlegar RCMP and BC Highway Patrol – Nelson responded to a report of a collision between a Ford F150 pickup truck and a pedestrian on Highway 22 south of Castlegar. Tragically, a 36 year old male from the Trail area succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Ford F150 remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. BC Highway Patrol is asking for anyone who may have witnessed this collision, may have dashcam video, or may have observed the pedestrian on the highway prior to the collision to contact BC Highway Patrol Nelson at 250-354-5180 and refer to file number 2023-6264.
