Trail & District Arts Council is excited to announce a spoken word performance by Shane Koyczan on Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 pm at The Bailey Theatre as part of the Performing Arts Trail series.

Shane Koyczan is always talking about what you need to hear! His poetry explores the human experience to give us insight into the issues that matter the most to us in ways that are moving, hilarious, challenging, provocative, inspirational and life changing.

Born in Yellowknife to an Indigenous father and a French mother, Shane’s work has made a worldwide impact. Not only because of his appearance at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics, but because of the topics he covers, from issues like bullying to COVID isolation. Because of this his work has become a staple in schools both for its impact and ability to reach young people.

Lauded for his live performances Koyczan has carved out his own artistic path and taken his work beyond the conventional. You may have seen him before, but have you heard what he’s got to say lately?

Tickets are $35 or $10 for those 30 years old & under. All tickets are available online at thebailey.ca, by phone at 250-368-9669, and in person at the Bailey Box Office at 1501 Cedar Ave., Trail.

For attendees’ convenience there is also a shuttle bus for this performance for the bargain price of $5 round trip. Door-to-door pick-up is available in Trail and Rossland and set location pick up on Castlegar and Fruitvale. Details at thebailey.ca.

The Performing Arts Trail series is sponsored by Teck Trail Operations, Pharmasave Trail, and Century 21 Kootenay Homes (2018) Ltd. With funding support from the BC Arts Council, the Province of British Columbia, the BC Touring Council and Tourism South Kootenay.
