On Jan. 9, at 6:56 p.m. a Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded a report of an assault, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich. He said the report indicated a 44-year od man assaullted a 51-year-old Trail man in the 4000 block of Casino Road, in Trail.

“The victim, the 51-year-old man, was shoveling snow when his neighbour, the 44-year-old man, became upset about some snow that was shoveled onto his property,” Wicentowich said. “The neighbour confronted the victim and punched the victim several times before the altercation ended. The victim was not injured and requested that the RCMP only provide a verbal warning to his neighbour at this time. The officer located the 44-year-old man and provided him with a warning about the assault against the victim.

The 44-year-old man could still be charged with Assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code if the victim decides to pursue it. The RCMP will retain this information in its police records for a lengthy period of time and can revisit laying charges at a later time.
