Scammers target Charles Bailey Theatre Facebook page/followers
Dear Patrons,
I am writing to notify you of a breach on our Charles Bailey Theatre Facebook Page last week.
Someone created a fake Facebook profile using our logo and our name (with a hyphen in it) and replying to comments on our page. They were also sending our Facebook followers private messages notifying them that they won a prize with a link to click for further details. They were then asking for credit card information.
If you gave them your credit card information, please cancel your cards immediately. At this time, if you did not enter your credit card details, we do not think there is any risk to you.
We want you to know that we are taking this very seriously and that as soon as we were made aware of the breach, we reported it to Facebook fraud and The Canadian Anti-fraud Centre. We also posted on Facebook notifying patrons that they should not click any link from this fake profile. Please know that The Charles Bailey Theatre would never request credit card information through our social media platforms. We will only request info when you call us to buy tickets over the phone or when you purchase online on our secure ticketing site. The fake Facebook profile was gone the next day.
All of us at The Bailey take this issue personally. We appreciate your ongoing use of Facebook and are working every day to deliver the level of service you expect and deserve.
Please note that our website and ticketing website are secure platforms that have not been affected.
To discuss this further or report any more information on the matter, please contact me directly.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
