Castlegar man arrested after seizure of suspected fentanyl and cocaine
On May 22, the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant on a residence situated in the 600-block of 11th Avenue of Castlegar B.C. The search warrant was authorized as part of an active police investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the Castlegar area.
Two men were taken into police custody during the execution of the warrant.
The search of the property resulted in the seizure of substances believed to be fentanyl and cocaine. Police also seized over $1,200 in Canadian currency, a quantity of foreign currency and other related evidence to suggest the men were involved in drug trafficking.
Investigators also recovered stolen cheques and an electric bike, which was reported to police as stolen on May 19, 2020 after a home owner discovered various items had been taken from their unlocked shed.
A 40-year-old Castlegar man faces potential drug and property crime related charges. He has been released from police custody on bail conditions to appear in Castlegar Courts on September 23, 2020. Castlegar RCMP will forward the matter to the Public Prosecution of Canada for charge assessment.
