It can be challenging travelling in the winter and even more so crossing the border, but Tourism Rossland has confirmed that a Spokane Airport Shuttle, facilitated by Kootenay Gateway Mountain Shuttle, will run 7 days a week, December 13, 2019 to March 29, 2020, to get skiers to the hills in Rossland or Nelson.  The shuttle will also serve locals who want to head south to shop or explore other destinations.

The Spokane shuttle service has been running for the past 7 years, providing transportation between Nelson, Rossland and the Spokane Airport  during the ski season.  The shuttle makes it so much easier for travelers from afar to visit the West Kootenays for ski holidays.

Dianna Ducs, Executive Director of Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism said, “we have been so pleased with the success of this service – it has effectively doubled the number of passengers in the past few years to Nelson and Whitewater.”

For the winter of 2019/2020 the Spokane Shuttle will run with no minimum number of passengers required.  The price has been reduced to $115 each way.  Departure time up to 2:30 pm from the Spokane Airport also means that we can provide same-day service for more guests.

“Kootenay Gateway Mountain Shuttle has been providing shuttle service across the region and in Rossland to Red Mountain for years, and offers a reliable, friendly and on-time service,”  says Andras Lukacs, Executive Director of Tourism Rossland.  Kootenay Gateway owners Natasha and Ian Lockey explain,  “Our company mission is to get visitors and locals to the mountains, and we are excited to be part of this shuttle service.”

An added service between Nelson and Rossland will also be offered to transport skiers between the two communities. This fee is $79 one way and must be booked 48 hours in advance to guarantee a seat. Check the website (link below) for other services, too.

Booking and related information is available on the  Kootenay Gateway website.
