RDCK EOC Update for Sunday, August 19, at 10:30 a.m.

Regional District of Central Kootenay
By Regional District of Central Kootenay
August 19th, 2018

The RDCK Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is fully staffed and active this morning.

We are aware of a fire reported in the vicinity of the old mine site near the Galena Trail, between Three Forks and New Denver. We will provide more information as soon as we can.

Saturday was a busy day across the province, and the RDCK was no exception. New evacuation ALERTS were issued for the Syringa Provincial Park area and Deer Park area, which is in addition to the evacuation ALERT still in place across the lake for Renata and Shields. The map below shows all three alert areas.

The evacuation ORDER remains in place for residents in the Sheep Creek Road area southeast of Salmo due to the McArthur Creek wildfire.

Note that conditions may change quickly, so please stay informed through your local media, and the RDCK Facebook and Twitter accounts. The brief disruption to the RDCK website has been resolved, so we are back up and running and will post information, alerts, orders and maps here: https://rdck.ca/…/emergency-management/emergency-alerts.html. You can also phone the RDCK EOC at 250-352-7701 or 1-866-522-7701.

We will provide further updates as needed.
