Fire crews rescue man from cliff

Eighteen firefighters – 13 from Trail and five from Warfield – executed a high angle rope rescue Monday afternoon, according to KBRFR Cpt. Ryan Smith.
He said the call came in at 1:50 p.m., and crews arrived on scene at 1:54 p.m.
“Station 374 responded to a single male patient on a cliff above the Trail Regional Hospital,” Smith said. “Regional Fire Rescue’s high angle rope rescue team successfully rescued the patient. The patient was transported to Trail Regional Hospital.”
According to KBRFR Cpt. Grant Tyson, high angle rope rescue is a very technical skill set.
“We’ve got two high angle rope rescue instructors on staff, they’re team leaders who direct the call,” Tyson explained. The rest of us are trained to be high angle rope rescue operators.”
The issue was resolved by 8:36 p.m.
The cause of the incident is undetermined at this time, and under investigation by RCMP.
