Stage III Watering Restrictions Imposed
Starting on Wednesday, August 23, Rossland’s watering restrictions move to Stage III: that means that sprinkling systems — whether automated or turned on and off by hand — can be in use only from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. As before, homes with even-numbered street adresses can sprinkle only on even-numbered days, and odd-numbered homes can sprinkle only on odd-numbered days. Water must not spray onto sidewalks, driveways or roads.
It also means that water levels in our reservoir are falling; we’re using water faster than it’s flowing into our reservoirs. The City’s announcement refers to the current “remarkably low” water levels in the small creeks that provide Rossland’s water supply.
The City advises that if the warm, dry weather continues, further restrictions will be imposed. For those who like to go to the source of things, here’s a link to the Bylaw.

Restrictions:
- Properties with even numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
- Properties with odd numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
- Properties zoned P-1 – Public & Institutional shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
- Properties zoned P-2 – Park and Open Space shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
