It's almost time for Golden City  Days and Rossland's Fall Fair, accurately billed as "an old-fashioned celebration of community." This year the Fall  Fair is on Saturday, September 9th, at the Arena, opening immediately after the Golden City Days parade (around 11:00 am), and the theme is Canada 150. The Fall  Fair is always fun, and its organizers have made sure that in 2017 it will be that and more.

One of the wonderful things about our Fall  Fair is the friendly competition among gardeners and the creators of crafts, artwork, baking and home canning and much, much more; and being able to view all the entries. It encourages people of all ages to take part in creative and productive activities instead of just being passive consumers, and to share the fruits of their efforts with an appreciative audience. Check out the different categories of entries on the Fall  Fair's website at http://www.rosslandfallfair.ca/   and see if you could be a contender. There are several new categories just to celebrate Canada 150!

Other features will include:

  • Vendor and Information booths

  • Live entertainment throughout the day

  • Brian Chan to sing "Oh Canada" at 1:00 pm

  • Golden City Fiddlers perform at 2:00 pm

  • Golden City Model Railway display

  • Special Rossland Mountain Market on location

  • Petting Zoo

  • Fish Pond

  • Door Prizes

The Fall Fair is the result of community spirit demonstrated by a group of volunteers who put it all together, with  the generous support of sponsors such as Columbia Basin Trust, the Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary, and the City of Rossland.  More volunteers are always needed.  Helping with the Fall  Fair is a great way to contribute to the community and to get to know people.  If you're interested, please contact  rosslandbc.fallfair@gmail.com

Golden City Days has many other events, including the ever-popular Outhouse Races, and enough food vendors to keep us all fueled up for the duration.
