Sihota, Lovan hold leads after two rounds of BC Juvenile Golf Championships

Jeevan Sihota of Victoria and Claire Lovan of Surrey lead the BC Juvenile Boy’s and Girl’s Golf Championships, respectively, following two rounds of play at Granite Pointe at Nelson.

Sihota maintained his dominance over the field following Thursday’s second round, firing a two-under-par 70 to lead the Boy’s Championship by seven shots over Matt Hopley of Kelowna.

Sihota finished Thursday’s round with a two-round total score of 135.

Hopley is second at 142 after finishing the day at even par.

Leo Harper of Burnaby, Nic Jenner of Castlegar and Fin Lawlor of North Vancouver sit in a three-way tie for third at 145.

Jenner finished the day with a two-over-par 74.

Meanwhile, on the Girl’s side of the tournament, Lovan holds a four-shot advantage over Karen Zhang of Richmond.

Lovan finished the day at three-over-par to sit at 148.

Zhang was the lone female to finish the day at under par, shooting a one-under 73 to sit at 152.

Akari Hayashi of Victoria is third at 153 followed by Chaewon Baek of Langley in fourth at 155.

Natasha Kozlowski of Prince George and Sophia Bian of West Vancouver are tied for fifth at 157.

Other local results had William Watt of Castlegar in 36th spot at 165; teammate A.J. Roberts tied for 38th at 168; Xander Bankes of Redstone in Rossland tied for 42nd at 175; and Brendon Makeiv of Balfour in 54th spot at 213.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament goes Friday at Granite Pointe.

Award ceremony follows the tournament at approximately 4 p.m.
