Kootenay Festival 2017 this Saturday at Millennium

The Seventh Annual Kootenay Festival is set to wow the crowds this Saturday at Millennium Park, and is expected to draw upwards of 2,500 celebrants.
“About 2,500 people came last year, and we’re expecting more this year,” said Audrey Maxwell-Polovnikoff of the Castlegar and District Recreation Department. “We have close to 50 vendors, and performers from across the Kootenays.”
The one-day event, running from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
New this year will be a beer garden from 2 to 7 p.m., hosted by Castlegar Hospice, and Completely Creedence, a CCR tribute band, performing from 5 – 7 p.m. The Lions Club will be there with a penny carnival for the kids, Kootenay Family Place will host face painting, and revellers can ‘Paddle in the Ponds’ with Endless Adventures.
“In keeping with our community’s green focus, Mountain Transport Institute will be providing free shuttles from the Complex and the Station Museum to the event, and will be accepting donations for the food bank,” Maxwell-Polovnikoff added.
“This is a fabulous, exciting way of celebrating our arts, culture and heritage.”
