City appoints new Director of Public Works

The City of Trail is pleased to announce that Chris McIsaac, the City’s Utilities Superintendent, has been appointed the new Director of Public Works. Chris will assume his role new immediately and will work directly with the current Manager of Public Works, Larry Abenante, until Larry retires in May after 21 years of service with the City.
The City conducted a very thorough hiring process with the assistance of the Ravenhill Group Inc., a Municipal Government Search and Recruiting firm, to ensure the right candidate was chosen. “The City was fortunate to receive a number of high quality applications,” said David Perehudoff, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer. “The City’s Recruitment Committee felt that Mr. McIsaac was the best candidate when considering his technical training and his familiarity with the City’s operations and employees; he is also well known and established in Trail. Throughout the extensive selection process he continued to demonstrate a keen interest in the position and most recently served as the Acting Director of Public Works through the challenging winter season.”
Chris is looking forward to implementing a new approach and building on Mr. Abenante’s solid foundation. He intends to work collaboratively with his staff and to take a very open and proactive approach to foster a participative and team approach. He is excited about the opportunity and is committed to the City and its ongoing success. “I have really enjoyed my tenure as the Utilities Superintendent,” said Chris McIsaac. “I am looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of Trail but in a greater capacity as the Director of Public Works.”
The Mayor and Council are supportive of this appointment and look forward to working directly with Mr. McIsaac as the Department Head of the City’s largest operating department.
About Chris McIsaac
Chris grew up and went to school in the Trail area. After high school, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1988 for 10 years. He studied Civil Engineering at Canadore College in 1999 and obtained a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in 2001. Soon after his SAIT graduation, he returned to Trail and built up his work experience with Pennco Engineering and Northom Engineering & Construction. In 2005, he joined the City of Trail Public Works Departments as the Utilities Superintendent.
