City's Financial Decisions: Have Your Say with Thoughtexchange
Rossland City Council is once again seeking citizens’ opinions on what the City’s spending priorities should be. Thoughtexchange, a Rossland company, is testing a new program, and will not be charging the City for this exercise. (Thoughtexchange is also one of the five top nominees for the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce “Awards of Excellence” in the “Employer of the Year” category.)
A number of opinions have already been recorded; some have indicated that the City should not subsidize use of the Trail Aquatic Centre, some have questioned the high cost of operating our arena while others have stressed the importance of the arena to the community, and others have made suggestions about increasing the arena’s revenue stream. Some people have indicated that they trust this Council to make the best decisions; others have said that seeking of citizen opinion indicates a lack of vision. While remarks have been made recently about the City being short-staffed, some citizens suggested that Rossland’s “administrative costs are too high” and that there are too many City staff.

You can not only record your thoughts and the reasoning supporting them, but also register your opinions of other people’s thoughts — by way of clicking on emoticons.
Meanwhile, if someone would just win a huge lottery and donate a few million to the City, we could stop worrying about tax increases. But as everyone ought know, lottery wins cannot be the basis for anyone’s financial planning — personal or municipal.
