It’s been said that Nelson is a place that grows on people.

Which has to be the reason why the British Columbia Float Plane Association (BCFA) is coming back to the Heritage City for the 2016 Annual General Meeting a Fly-in at the Nelson Airport.

Planes will begin to arrive Friday for the three-day event with approximately 30 float planes, pilots and passengers expected to attend.

The BCFA likes Nelson for its convenient airport, water landing and mooring.

Most planes will land on Kootenay Lake near the airport and moor along the shore by the dog walk.

No closures or restrictions are expected other than float plane owners ask the public to not interfere or touch the planes.

The BCFA will be holding their meetings at the airport on the Saturday.

On Sunday, July 19 the Nelson Pilots Association will house Airport Appreciation Day, complete with a pancake breakfast, open to the general public, from 8-11 a.m.

This will be an opportunity for the public to visit the airport, see airplanes and talk with pilots.
