Tractor-trailer accident near Paulson Bridge shuts down Highway 3
The Paulson Bridge is becoming a very dangerous stretch of highway for semi trailer drivers.
For the second time in less than two months there has been an accident involving a semi tractor & trailer near the Paulson Bridge, which, according to Drive BC, has closed Highway 3 in both directions.
“I was just in Christina Lake (and) came upon semi jack knifed across whole highway just east of Paulson bridge,” a reader of The Nelson Daily texted Monday night.
“Traffic is closed in both directions.”
The Nelson Daily reader said the driver walked away, completely unhurt but the Bison Transport Truck is severely damaged.
In May, a semi tractor & trailer heading west was unable to slow down to enough from the hill entering the bridge to successfully complete the 50 km/h corner.
The driver managed to keep his rig on the bridge deck, avoiding the almost 300-foot drop to the old rail bed trail below but spilled his load on the bridge deck.
Highway 3 was closed Monday evening while crews remove the semi tractor and trailer from the road. On its website Drive BC indicated Highway 3 could re-open at approximately 10:30 p.m.
