Rossland City Hall reminds residents of Stage 2 watering restrictions, which begin each year on June 15 and continue until September 30 — or later, if conditions warrant, or until further restrictions on watering become necessary because of drier conditions.

Here’s the schedule as stated in the City’s bylaw and recently posted notice:

“Properties with even numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.

The sunny weather is lovely.  Let’s be grateful for it, and for the fact that we have two reservoirs to store water from the small creeks that we rely upon to provide us with sufficient water to last over a potentially long, hot, dry summer.  And let’s also hope gentle rains interrupt the sunny weather fairly often, because those creeks usually diminish to mere trickles by late summer or early autumn.
