Police seek assistance in nabbing would-be armed robber in Salmo
Police are asking for help in finding a man who attempted to rob a Salmo store at gunpoint, according to RCMP Cpl. Riordan Bellman.
Bellman said that on Friday at about 6:45 p.m., Salmo RCMP responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at Piper’s General Store located at 701 Glendale Ave., in Salmo.
“An unknown male carrying what appeared to be a black handgun entered the store, pointed the gun at the female employee and told her to hand over her cash after he placed a bag on the counter,” Bellman said in a press release issued Monday. “The interaction ended with the male fleeing the store on foot with no money.”
He said no shots were fired and no one was injured.
“Police attended within a few minutes and a dog track was initiated, which ended unsuccessfully. The suspect male was wearing a dark navy coloured zip up hoody with white pin stripes down the sleeves. His head was covered by the hood and a full face mask. The suspect is still at large and the investigation is ongoing.”
RCMP are requesting if anyone has any information, please contact the Salmo RCMP at (250) 357-2212 or Crime Stoppers.
