Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society (KAAP) is having a Burger ‘n Beer Fundraiser evening to benefit homeless and needy cats and dogs, at Finley’s Bar and Grill in Nelson on Oct. 17, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Part of the fundraising will be by raffles for themed gift baskets and there will also be a 50/50 draw.

Tickets for the event are priced at just $15 per person and are available at Finley’s Bar & Grill in Nelson or through KAAP. There will be a veggie/vegan option as well as a non-alcoholic drinks option on the night.

KAAP has been an important animal welfare group in the West Kootenay since 2007. Over that time, more than 1,500 cats and dogs have been fixed, fostered, and rehomed, and another 2,000 cats and dogs owned by low-income families have been spayed or neutered. Did you know that female cats can get pregnant as early as fourmonths old and female dogs as young as six months?

KAAP is 100-per-cent volunteer, depending on private donations from the community. They receive no government funding.

If you would like to learn more about KAAP, you can visit the webpage http://www.kaap.ca/and they also have a Facebook page: Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society (KAAP). Benefits include a Rescue Team Badge for your Facebook profile picture, updates on animals in KAAP care through a special ‘members-only’ Facebook group, and the comfort of knowing that you are helping animals in need get a second chance at a new life.
