Hope child killed in accident
A child in Hope has died due to injuries received after a being hit by a truck on Wednesday afternoon, according to RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail.
“On Oct.7, RCMP at approximately 12:30 p.m., RCMP received a report of a child that was struck by a commercial truck in the 400 block of 6 Avenue,” Rail said. “General Duty officers and BC Ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and located an eight-year-old boy suffering from life -hreatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“RCMP Investigators supported by Fraser Valley Traffic Services, Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, BC Coroners Service, and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement are examining the collision scene and gathering evidence in the initial stages of the investigation. Sixth Avenue between Coquihalla and Queen Streets is closed to traffic until further notice.”
The driver of the vehicle has offered full cooperation with the investigation.
Victim Services is engaged with family of the victim.
