UPDATED: Cucumbers recall due to Salmonella expanded for include Overwaitea Food Group

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said the Overwaitea Food Group is joining the recall of field cucumbers purchased from Save On Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Coopers Foods, Overwaitea, and Freson Brothers due to possible Salmonella contamination.
Consumers should not consume the recalled product described below.
This recall applies to fresh field cucumbers sold in bulk, unwrapped purchased from Save On Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Coopers Foods, Overwaitea, and Freson Brothers on or before September 4, 2015. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased affected cucumbers should check with their retail store.
The following cucumbers have been sold from Save On Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Coopers Foods, Overwaitea, and Freson Brothers stores in Alberta and British Columbia.

Safeway Recalls Cucumbers due to Salmonella
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently announced that Safeway is recalling field cucumbers and various in-store produced products that contain cucumbers purchased from stores.
The action is due to possible Salmonella contamination on cucumbers that were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
The recall applies to fresh field cucumbers sold in bulk, unwrapped, and various in-store produced products that contain cucumbers, such as Greek salad, vegetable trays, sushi and sandwiches purchased from Safeway on or before Sept. 6, 2015.
Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected products should check with their Safeway store.
Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below:
- Field cucumbers (bulk, unwrapped) purchased from Safeway on or before Sept. 6, 2015, PLU 4062
- Various in-store produced products that contain cucumbers (Greek salad, vegetable trays, sushi and sandwiches), purchased from Safeway on or before Sept. 6, 2015.
This recall was triggered by a recall by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce (“A&W”) of San Diego, CA, and may be associated with an outbreak in the United States. CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.
Currently, CFIA stated that it is not aware of any reported illnesses in Canada associated with the consumption of these products.
