FIRE IN HANNA CREEK -- and other locations, too.
The Southeast Fire Centre has issued a new report on new fires in the area:
None of these fires are immediately threatening any communities or structures, however due to their location the public may see an increase in smoke and air operations in response to these incidents.
The Hanna Creek fire is currently 0.3 hectares and is located 8km northwest of Trail. One BC Wildfire Service Initial Attack crew is on site assisted by a helicopter.
· The fire 5.6 km northwest of Renata is currently 8 hectares and has shown rapid growth. Seven firefighters and one helicopter are on site, assisted by airtankers.
· The Tenderloin Creek fire is currently 10 hectares and is located 6.5km east of West Arrow Lake. Airtankers are on site.
· The Kelly Mountain fire is currently 0.13 hectares and is 6.5km northeast of Fruitvale. There are 5 firefighters on site.
Officials from the BC Wildfire Service met this morning with the Incident Management Team on the Stickpin fire, 7km south of the Canada / U.S. border in Washington State. Discussions are underway on how to potentially assist our neighbours to the south with suppression efforts on this fire.
