UPDATED: Missing Kimberley man can thank lucky stars after being found pinned under motorcycle on Gray Creek Pass

Paul Kerr of Kimberley can thank his lucky stars after two mountain bikes found the missing Bavarian City man Tuesday evening.
Kerr, 45, had been missing since Sunday after heading out from Kimberley for a ride over the remote gravel Gray Creek Pass.
Monday SARS teams from Cranbrook, Kimberley, Sparwood, Fernie, Creston and Invermere looked for Kerr, but found nothing, said RCMP.
The same story happened for a helicopter or fixed wing aircraft that searched the area for two days.
Then, at about 7 p.m. MT Tuesday, mountain bikers, who had no idea about the extensive search, found Kerr seriously injured, but alive, and unable to free himself under this motorcycle.
“He was not visible from the road,” said Cpl. Chris Newel of Kimberley RCMP.
“It’s pure luck these mountain bikers went down there.”
“He could have been there for a lot longer and the outcome less favourable.”
Kerr was taken to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
RCMP search for missing Kimberley man making trip on Gray Creek Pass
Kimberley RCMP is reaching out to the public for assistance in finding a missing motorcycle rider from the Bavarian City.
Paul Kerr departed his home in Kimberley Sunday (June 14) around 10:30 a.m. for a motorcycle trip over the Gray Creek Pass.
The Gray Creek Pass is a seasonal gravel road connecting Gray Creek on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake to Kimberley with a 6800-foot summit.
Kerr, 45, was riding his white and blue 2009 BMW motorcycle with BC license plate S32595.
The trip is estimated to take 2-3 hours each way, however, Kerr has not been seen since he left Sunday.
Kimberley Search and Rescue have three ground teams and an aircraft searching the area.
Kerr is described as:
- white male
- 45 years of age
- 5’ 11 tall, slim build,
- dark brown hair and green eyes.
Anyone with information pertaining to Kerr’s whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest police agency or 9-1-1.
