RCMP report happy ending to search for missing Blewett man
A missing Blewett man has been found said Cpl. Michael Stefani of the
Nelson RCMP Wednesday (June 17).
Stefani said in a media release that 42-year-old was located Tuesday evening in the west of Copper Mountain Forrest Service Road in Blewett.
“At approximately 2020 hours (Tuesday) June 16th, Nelson Search and Rescue called advising that Moyer had been located and SAR and family who had also been searching, were with him,” Cpl. Stefani said.
“Moyer’s dog was also found with him.”
Cpl. Stefani said the Copper Mountain Forrest Service Road was an area of focus by Nelson SAR after the RCMP helicopter was called in to complete a second air search on Monday.
“It was believed a sighting was made by Air Services so a decision was made to send in a ground search to follow up,” Cpl. Stefani said.
“This lead was a result of friends finding a foot print in the 49 Creek area by the creek the previous night.”
Moyer, who went missing Saturday, was reported to have had multiple cuts and scratches when he was found but was not suffering any other injuries.
EHS attended the scene and helped transport Moyer out with SAR and he was taken to hospital.
The Nelson RCMP would like to thank all the people who worked tirelessly over the past few days assisting with this search.
“The dedication of Nelson Search and Rescue, friends, and especially the family in working cooperatively to bring this to a successful conclusion was amazing,” Cpl. Stefani exclaimed.
“As well our local media cannot be left out. The speed and accuracy in getting our information out to the public speaks volumes to the professionalism of our local outlets in supporting this community and they should be commended.”
