NPD officers arrest female shop lifters following afternoon spree
Nelson Police said two women are facing theft following a shopping spree in a couple of local store Thursday (January 15) afternoon.
Sgt Dino Falcone said in a media release police were called at 3:45 p.m. that two females entered a retail store and left without paying for some valuable items.
“After the duo left the store, they allegedly drove to a local grocery store and walked out without paying for a substantial amount of groceries and housewares,” Sgt Falcone explained.
“A good description of the getaway vehicle and the occupants was
broadcast to all police agencies in the Kootenays.”
Falcone said with the assistance of the Nelson RCMP, the Nelson Police Department arrested two females, aged 36- and 53-years-old with two counts each of theft under $5000 dollars and two counts each of possession of stolen property.
“The younger female was also arrested for an unendorsed warrant for theft under $5000 dollars and Breach of Undertaking,” Falcone added.
Police said the 53-year-old from Castlegar woman was released on a Promise to Appear and strict conditions with a scheduled Nelson Provincial Court date of April 28, 2015.
A bail hearing was conducted on January 16, 2015 for the other female of no fixed address and she was remanded for Nelson Provincial Court on January 20, 2015
