Two donations of $10,000 each — one from the Rossland Rotary Club, and  one from the Nelson and District Credit Union —  boost hopes for the Rossland Skatepark Association (RSA).

RSA has a plan, and a site, but needs more dollars to begin construction before the City’s deadline expires.  The completed skatepark will be a boon to Rossland youth, and a benefit to local businesses as well; it will attract enthusiasts from other communities.  At this time, we know that some of Rossland’s skateboarders travel to Castlegar to use a skatepark there.

RSA has been working  toward a skatepark in Rossland since 1996.  Some of the original young activists, such as Connor Mackay and Conor Streadwick, have since grown up and gone away to university and employment, but other enthusiastic and articulate young people have taken their places.

To learn more about RSA and their fundrasing blitz, go to the Rossland Skatepark Association’s FaceBook page.   To help build a skatepark and community  pride in that accomplishment, give a donation if you can.
