2014 Equine Empowerment Camps are being offered for West Kootenay area youth from ages five to 19 free of charge.  These camps are sponsored by Columba Basin Trust, Arrow Lakes Therapeutic Riding Association and Pass Creek Regional Exhibition Society.

Camp participants will receive two, 1.5 hour lessons per camp, which will be tailored to each individual and include working with horses, whether that means riding, grooming or simply learning about the horse. We aim to create a safe and comfortable environment for each individual participant.

The wonderful therapy horses are the heart of the therapeutic riding program. They provide magic, friendship and wonder to our riders (and volunteers) while mounted or working on the ground. It’s a big job keeping them all happy, healthy, well trained and sound so that everyone can enjoy their time spent at therapeutic riding. We are truly blessed to have found the very first horses for Arrow Lakes Therapeutic Riding: Domino and Khadeez. This is the inaugural year of the therapeutic riding program, and we are fundraising in order to keep the cost of riding lessons within financial reach of many. The therapeutic riding program hopes we can will help to keep rider fees low by finding sponsors for our program and/or getting individual sponsors for each of our students or horses. Any amount would truly be appreciated! We are hoping to raise a total of $8,760 to help pay for Domino and Khadeez, their feed, housing and any incidental costs that may occur throughout the year.

Camp dates are Aug. 21 to 23 and Sept. 26 to 28, 2014

Space is limited.  If you are interested or know someone that maybe interested in attending this very special Therapeutic Riding Camp please contact jessica@arrowlakesTRA.com or call 250-551-7411
